March 16/2010 - Official Statement from the Clarenville Caribous regarding tickets for games 5 & 7
On behalf of the Clarenville Caribous organization, I will try to shed
some light on the issue of the unavailability of seats at the CEC for
games 5 and 7. Here are the numbers as I know them to be.
There are 1250 seats at the CEC.
- 958 season pass holders
- 100 tickets for players and coaching staff (4 each)
- 2 seats for security people
- 24 seats for major corporate sponsors
- 10 seats for HNL and WCSHL officials
- 10 seats for the CEC in case of ticket duplication
- 10 seats to the CEC
- 101 seats for the GFW Cats
- 35 seats to 15 executive members
-Total - 1250 seats.
Its is very unfortunate that the seating capacity at the CEC is not able
to meet the demands of the fans but that is something that we as an
organization can do nothing about.
None of these numbers are excessive and it is the opinion of the
organization, that the seats have been used in the best interest of the
team. It is not uncommon for a senior hockey team at this level to provide
seating to the people on this list.
On a final note, there has been no corruption here as some people have
suggested. The 15 members of the Caribous executive give freely and
without compensation, hundreds if not thousands of hours of their time to
help the Caribous organization run smoothly. Decisions are made as a group
and are never taken lightly. These last couple of weeks have been very
stressful for the people who are in charge of distributing the tickets.
Frustrated fans verbally abusing Caribous volunteers is unacceptable and
to see people make posts here (on the caribous facebook page), suggesting that things are not being done
fairly, is for me very upsetting. We don’t do everything perfect but we do
give it our best effort.
I respectfully ask that all fans try to understand that we as an
organization are working through these growing pains in our first year at
the CEC and hope to have things run more smoothly in the coming years.
Todd Brett
